Dr. Davis Defends Dissertation
Dr. Kim Davis, a student at Arizona State University, has successfully defended her dissertation titled "Glass Cliffs No More: Black Women Amplifying Leadership Self-Efficacy Through an Arts-Based Sister Circle Model."
In this groundbreaking research, Dr. Davis explores the challenges faced by Black women in leadership positions and introduces an innovative approach to empower them. Drawing from her experiences and expertise, Dr. Davis presents the concept of an Arts-Based Sister Circle Model, designed to foster leadership self-efficacy among Black women.
The dissertation challenges the prevalent phenomenon of "glass cliffs," where women, particularly those from marginalized communities, are often placed in precarious leadership positions. Through the proposed model, Dr. Davis aims to provide a supportive environment where Black women can enhance their confidence, skills, and resilience in leadership roles.
"This research is a testament to the fortitude and potential of Black women in leadership," says Dr. Kim Davis. "By leveraging the power of community, creativity, and self-expression, we can shatter the glass cliffs and pave the way for genuine empowerment and inclusivity."
Dr. Davis acknowledges the support and contributions of her dissertation committee, mentors, peers, and participants involved in the study.
